Sunstone Winery: Santa Ynez, California

Providing you with amazing wine craft and gorgeous scenery, the Tuscan inspired, Provence-styled Sunstone Winery & Vineyards will amaze and daze even the unlikely of wine drinkers. At Sunstone, located just 35-minutes north of Santa Barbara, you get a French countryside feel paired with the classic California wine taste. The passion and caring that Sunstone has put into making their wine can be tasted during every sip. Sunstone was opened as a 25-acre vineyard in the year 1990, and has not stopped growing ever since. My first trip to Santa Barbara I stopped here and have been coming back ever since. The stunning views and amazing wine has won me over enough to where I became a Sunstone Member!

Over two decades later, their estate has grown to crafting Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvedre and Viognier.

The vineyard was named after the estate’s exposed, sun-dappled shale and stones. Sunstone is a natural beauty tucked away in the quiet Santa Ynez Mountains. They offer each customer a tranquil retreat where they can enjoy a glass of wine in a gorgeous lavender and rosemary filled courtyard surrounded by splendid mountain views, or in the stone layered, barrel-aging caves, or maybe even enjoy a pre-ordered lunch at their picnic tables shaded by the beautiful olive and oak trees. The possibilities are endless. Their wine specialist are very knowledgable and are very happy to assist you with any questions you have. They have always helped my goofy questions.

Sunstone is apart of the California Certified Organic Farmers (C.C.O.F.) and has been committed to growing wine grapes without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fungicides since the initial planting in 1990.

At 8,500 square feet, the Tuscan inspired villa was made from reclaimed limestone and artifacts from France. When you drive up to the winery, the natural beauty and surroundings will take your breath away.

Sunstone’s tasting rooms are simular to the small wineries in the Provencal French countryside. Over 5,000 square feet of stone barrel-aging caves are built into the hillside. How amazing is that? With the winemaker dinners and other special events that are held, Sunstone is your little European slice of heaven.

Sunstone  is now available for location shoots, culinary retreats and beautiful vineyard weddings.

PS. Their Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars are amazing and add the best taste to any dish.  I  took my best friend Hailey there and she got the Roasted Garlic Olive Oil and I always stock up on the Fig Balsamic!
