Cabo Rojo is located on the West coast region of Puerto Rico and has been stunning locals and tourist alike for years with its natural scenery, views and of course the main attraction, its beaches! With award winning, pristine beaches and gorgeous Caribbean blue waters, I am not surprised at how Cabo Rojo steals the hearts of travelers.
Check out the beaches for yourself and see. Warning, the photos may take your breath away!
Playa Buye: Buye is located right at southwest tip of the island in Cabo Rojo offering the prettiest shades of blue, the calmest water and a very laid back family friendly beach culture. Very relaxed during weekdays with few people combing the white sands and sunbathing, but during the weekends, Buye turns into a true Puerto Rican beach offering a festive atmosphere with sounds of salsa and reggaeton.
Well known for residents in Cabo Rojo, Buye is a tucked away secret beach in comparison to other beaches around the island. What makes Buye so unique is that you get two distinct beaches in one location. The colors and clarity of the gentle Caribbean waters make Buye one of the prettiest beaches on the West coast of Puerto Rico.
La Playuela (Playa Sucia): La Playuela is unarguably located on the most breathtaking spot on the main island of Puerto Rico. Don’t let the name of this beach fool you (Sucia means dirty), the waters are clean, with gorgeous tones of turquoise and navy blues with light white sand. Staying true to its Caribbean ways, this breathtaking spot is great for nature lovers and is conveniently located in the beautiful beach town of Cabo Rojo.
The views from this beach are spectacular. The lighthouse on the cliff to the right and more cliffs to the left, what more can you ask for? The water is just like the rest of the Caribbean with little to no waves. Boasting dramatic Caribbean scenery and views, natural bridges, hidden caves, private beach coves, dramatic limestone cliffs, and so much more. If you don’t believe me, then why was it consistently voted one of the Top 25 beaches in the Caribbean 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016.
Playa El Combate (Battle Beach): Playa Combate has two very distinct sides: the lado norte (north side), a charming fishing village with beautiful colored homes along the shore, fishermen boats, and docks. The lado sur (south side) of Combate Beach is absolutely breathtaking, boasting clear, secluded waters and a romantic view.
Combate Beach is well-known for its crystal clear waters, and Puerto Rican vibes, Playa El Combate is at the top of the list for beaches in Cabo Rojo. Locals and travelers cannot seem to get enough of this picturesque beach. Sunsets stun even the most well-rounded travelers and are an everyday wonder at Combate Beach. The colors of the water takes your breath away instantly with ranges from deep blue at the horizon, and light turquiose to clear glass in the swimming areas. Playa Combate is managed by Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales.
Balneario de Boqueron: Balneario Boquerón is one of the most popular beaches on the main island of Puerto Rico. On this beach, everything is simple, laid back and amazingly beautiful. Boqueron beach offers over a mile of light golden sand, water in various shades of blue ranging from dark navy to light turquoise like glass. There are hundreds of palm trees, mixed with almond trees and flaming Flamboyan trees offering plenty of shade and adding to that picture-perfect postcard perfect scene. And, if you thought your disability would hold you back, think again. This beach offers visitors a ramp that allows disabled people to enter the water. There are restrooms, showers, a children’s play area, a basketball court, a beach volleyball area, an activity center and boat landing facilities.
